GI employs a team of highly skilled professionals to address the entire life-cycle of Geographic Information Systems, from the supply of data, provision of analytical and value-adding services, to assistance with assessments and decision-making structures. GI is an ESRI business partner and offers an extensive range of products and services including satellite resource management, raw data collection/supply, rapid satellite imagery acquisition, spatial analysis, and the production of high-level spatial visualisations and decision support tools.

The Position
Geospatial Intelligence Pty Ltd is looking for a highly innovative IT Professional to join our team. Reporting to the CTO, the new team member will ensure that our IT systems appropriately support our mission. The primary role will be as a IT support resource and administrator with additional responsibility around data management, web design, data analytics and software development. We are looking for someone who will be able to quickly understand and absorb new concepts and acquire skills on the job.

This is a full-time position based in Canberra.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Working with the CTO, ensure that the technology used across the company is maintained, secure and fully supports the business objectives
  • Provide IT support services across the company, including to remote workers
  • Work closely with our GIS, remote sensing, and mapping team to support their daily operations, including providing guidance on data processing and scripting
  • Provide daily support and maintenance for our IT infrastructure including VoIP PBX, server environment, storage system and network
  • Complete web development tasks to maintain and develop the company’s websites
  • Other duties appropriate to the position as required

Desired Skills:

  • Working knowledge of Linux servers, Microsoft domains, Microsoft server technology, Microsoft Exchange, networking, storages systems, cyber security, and virtualised environments
  • Understanding of containerisation technology including Docker and Kubernetes
  • Familiarity with programming and scripting languages: (e.g. C#, C++, Java, Python)
  • Web development skills: (e.g. HTML, Javascript, React, PHP, SQL)
  • Excellent attention to detail, self-motivation, initiative and capacity to learn
  • Good communication skills, a mature attitude and good interpersonal and client service skills
  • A strong work ethic with a proactive approach to opportunities

Qualifications and Experience

  • Must have completed a relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent relevant experience
  • A Defence security clearance is required for this role, applicants must be Australian citizens and eligible to obtain and maintain appropriate clearances
